Black Magic - a vintage 280 class hydroplane

Built in - 1959
Builder - Robert Conn (ConnCraft)
Hull Material - Fiber glass
Engine - Modified Chevrolet 350
Length - 17foot, 3 inches

The Black Magic is a fiberglass hull built in 1959. The wooden Black Magic, an International hull, was used as a plug to make the molds. The International hull was copied from a Lauterbach. The fiberglass hull was 140 pounds heavier than the wood hulls and they were not really competitive, so only three were made. The boat was campaigned in the south-eastern area in the late 50s and early 60s. She participated in the Orange Bowl Regatta in Florida. Johnny White was the owner/driver of both Black Magics. A partial restoration has already been done and the hydro has run on the Vintage Circuit since 2004. Comes complete with a 2008 custom built trailer, and with some work it will be ready to run again on the 2013 Vintage Race Boat Circuit !!!

1956 Thompson Sea Skiff

This boat was fully restored 4 years ago, but she could use a fresh coat of varnish and hull paint. She comes with a vintage 1958 Evinrude Lark 30 HP with electric start. She rides on a vintage Tee Nee trailer that needs a coat of paint. The boat takes 2-3 days to swell up and after that she's as tight as a drum. Fresh water use only. This is a great boat at a great price. At 15 feet she handles big water very comfortably and turns heads wherever you go. The work required to bring her back to perfect shape would involve 8-10 hours at the most. Hate to let her go but I already have a 22 foot 1948 Chris Craft to keep me busy, and the wife wants the garage back!

Marine Conversion for an Allison V12 engine ???!!!

Marine conversion for an Allison V1710 engine, two rails stamped 1943

to hold the transmission together as one unit. The transmission is the kind used on the big Packard V12 PT Boat, forward/reverse/neutral and has the important housing adapter that fits in place of the prop drive. The two mesh gears look and feel as tight as can be, almost press fit together. The box turned over 2 years ago with a bar on the drive shaft flange, but will need a tear down to check corrosion on inner bearings. A Packard V12 workshop manual is included that details the teardown and rebuild. Also included is an original government schematic of every single component. The pair of Van Blerk manifolds were taken off a running Allison. These parts are 64 years old, but if you want to put a mighty Allison into a Gentleman's Racer, this is a great start !!!

Chris Craft Speedster

Current owner did a very nice job converting the original Chris Craft Continental utility design to a single aft cockpit speedster. Boat was then brought to the Vintage Race Boat Shop to improve the performance and for refinishing. The bottom was detailed, a new technology 4-blade stainless steel prop was installed and the boat was refinished just last spring. The 318 Chrysler motor runs like a top with the 13x13 4-blade prop, and with the additional transom lift of the 4-blade design, the boat runs very flat and very nicely. This is a fun boat, is quite a looker, and comes with a custom trailer, fresh paint and lots of fresh Epifanes varnish.
